Whether you’re a seasoned player looking for a regular game or a newcomer wanting to practice your Charleston, we have a table for you! Come solo or bring your crew, grab a drink, and let the tiles fly.

Every Thursday, La Vita Dolce hosts Mahjong. Most weeks it’s Magnums, Mules & Mahjong, a casual, social open play event with each table overseeing their own play. It’s $5 to attend, most of which goes toward prizes, but free if you bring a set! We are unable to offer refunds, but you are welcome to give your seat to someone else. Once each month, Chapel Hill Mahjong Club takes over to host Mahjong 101 and Open Play with a skilled teacher and host with all materials provided.

What to expect at Magnums, Mules & Mahjong:

  • $5 to attend and free for the first 4-5 players who volunteer to bring an American Mahjong set (tiles, racks/pushers, dice)
  • $10 classic and seasonal Moscow Mule specials
  • Specialty Magnum bottles (10 glasses) available for pre-order
  • Groups and individuals welcome – we’ll group you to form tables
  • Casual, social play 5:30-8p
  • Prizes for the player with the most wins at each table

Upcoming Dates:

Magnums, Mules & Mahjong is a relaxed, social event and players should bring a National Mah Jongg League Card. If you aren’t yet sure how to play, we recommend coming to one of the Chapel Hill Mahjong Club 101 events prior to jumping into open play.
